Dalmas Xavalon

“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you will still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.”
― Tsunetomo Yamamoto, Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai

Living off a smaller island south of the mainland of La Noscea, Dalmas grew up at a young age filled with expectations on his shoulder. Many in his old tribe said he was most likely to be Nunh in the future. Though he wasn't the smartest person, Dalmas was strong, tough, compassionate, well spoken and always first to help those in their need including the Nunh himself. Many of these qualities were shared with his late father the Nunh before the current, whom Dalmas' mother was sure to speak of often of his leadership and bravery when his father was Nunh of the tribe. As he grew older and stronger it seemed that it was simply a matter of time for him to challenge the Nunh for the role, however that all changed with the calamity. The shards of Dalamud had destroyed a great deal of the island that his tribe lived on, killing much of the wildlife and forcing a great deal of Sahagin to contest where they could fish and hunt. With hardships building as the years went on it became clear to Dalmas that their current Nunh was still greatly needed with how they led against such hardships, leading him to decide on leaving to go east to Thanalan with his best friend and brother figure Yakima. Their goal, to make their own tribe and help other Miqo'te in need who also struggled during the devastation that the calamity had caused.

Having arrived to the morally questionable capital Ul'dah, Dalmas and Yakima wasted no time getting involved in the guilds that were offered within the desert jewel. While Dalmas excelled at the Gladiator's Guild with a gift at learning martial skills quickly, Yakima struggled with his studies at the Thamaurge Guild, which was much different from the healing magicks he was taught prior, so he put a lot of his focus in Goldsmithing to make up for it. During the time Dalmas earned himself a winning streak in the Bloodsands arena, naming him "The Black Lion", due to his primary hair colour. The only major loss he occurred would was to a future partner for his tribe, Rari Zahta under the alias "Eastern Tiger."The fame earned in the arena was to prove to others his capabilities and though he admits he wasn't the smartest person around, it was apparent he had a good heart. It also helped him that he was confident enough that Yakima could make up where he lacked, viewing that the two of them could lead a tribe together. It did prove to get the attention of one Miqo'te in particular named C'seribe and her closest friend Ayda and their father figure Alcide, a Moon Keeper Miqo'te who was a Ishgardian bastard and ex dragoon. Having formed a strong bond with Dalmas they added to a lingering feeling within Yakima.Though it seemed the two were as thick as thieves, Yakima secretly held a deep amount insecurity and envy over Dalmas. In his minor successes of fame, fortune and women's attention, it all gnawed at his insecurities that he wasn't good enough, fueled by the fact that Dalmas, who he clearly felt was not as intelligent, received all the attention and benefits from it. Feeling more and more like he was a tool Yakima would go behind Dalmas' back after his latest arena fight where he won an exotic red horse that a Lalafel merchant desired. Selling out where Dalmas would keep the animal, a group of thugs poisoned Dalmas as he took care of the horse, nearly losing his life if not for Alcide's intervention. However when he awoke Dalmas was unfortunately greeted with the knowledge that his brother figure and dearest friend Yakima was murdered, ignorant to Yakima's involvement in the ambush that he survived.

Taking weeks to mourn the loss of his dearest friend Yakima, Dalmas would eventually carry on to form a tribe of his own, meeting and growing attached to many people even outside the small, personal family he was making. The death of Yakima motivated him to help the people in Ul'dah however he could, not wishing for others to face such similar tragedies as he did, putting a lot of his arena fighting aside to aid the refugees or the Immortal Flames, spending years doing so.Having gained even more of a reputation he was once more called to do a fight in the arena to entertain the Eorzean alliance. But due to Ayda's connections with the Scions and a certain event that brought Ul'dah to a state of panic, his return to the arena would have to wait and thus had to flee Ul'dah, laying low in a far eastern style home in Lavender beds own by Rari's mother. There he had access to manuals, scrolls and various books about the far east and with visitations from Rari's adopted brother Sekai, Dalmas learned a love of many things from them. From Doman's history to the complex culture of Hingashi, the style of clothing, its music, to their food. With Sekai's help he learned the skills of a Samurai with blistering speed due to his talents and martial prowess. Having paid visits to the far east personally, they only made the foreign Miqo'te seem to enjoy it further. As the relationship with Rari grew, an opportunity arrived that a small castle was given to him thanks to her mother. Though the reasons proved to be complicated as to why she gifted the property for him to run the Free Company he named it after his tribe, inspired by a far eastern legend; Byakko.

For a long time the tribe Dalmas led had no name, but in honour the legend of the white tiger of the far east, as well as Rari's alias when she bested him in the Bloodsands, Dalmas named his tribe the Byakko Tigers. Not from the traditional Miqo'te letter tribe convention, it made sense to try and make it stand out more. As the tribe grew in a few numbers, Dalmas' focus turned more into helping other people.Finding the Eorzean Alliance dealt with much larger threats in the world, it prevented them little opportunity to aid those on a much smaller scale. Thus to help, Dalmas formed the Free Company under the same name as his tribe, all of which gave their full support to their Nunh. Now living in Shirogane as a home base, new recruits join to support people big or small however they can and though there is a charge for their services, it never is nor will be about the gil when it comes to helping others and doing the right thing.

Hello, outside of the game I go primarily as Diablo, a tag that's been with me for a long time. I'm 21+, pronouns are He/Him and enjoying roleplaying as well as doing most content in FFXIV. Dungeons, Trials, Raids and I do main tank for a great deal of it all.I live in the Atlantic area so my time is always an hour ahead of EST. Usually chill to get to know people and comfortable with RP as well ERP, but not for the pure sake of it. I like developing plotlines and stories with others and always with darker themes in RP, just give me a heads up is all first to set expectations.I use Discord so if you wish to reach out send me a message in game and we can go from there.
